About the author

While Gail Honeyman was writing her debut novel, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, it was shortlisted for the Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize as a work in progress. Translation rights have sold to over thirty territories worldwide, Reese Witherspoon bought the film rights, and it was chosen as one of the Observer’s Debuts of the Year for 2017.

Gail was also awarded the Scottish Book Trust’s Next Chapter Award in 2014, and has been longlisted for BBC Radio 4’s Opening Lines and shortlisted for the Bridport Prize. She lives in Glasgow.

    Didn't want this book to end. Although I thought it a little slow to begin with, in the end I thought it "completely fine" !!

    I have now red almost 300 books on my IPad. I remember detail of one, an internationally acclaimed book by Tan Twang Eng. This book makes 2. It too is an easy read that touches on so many levels.

    I heard about this book on Radio 2's book club and was rather intrigued so decided to purchase it on line, I must say I have really enjoyed reading this book and found it very hard to put down and stop reading, I have laughed I have cried and I have felt angry at times and found myself cheering Eleanor on aloud more so nearer the end of the book. Five stars to the author Gail Honeyman will definitely be looking out for more books by her.

  • Don't buy the audio version!

    This is the first audio book I've bought and won't be doing so again! I couldn't finish the book as the narrator was so insipid that I refuse to listen to the end! You can't tell if there's any humour as the child like manner in which she read made it impossible to glean! I will stick to my own voice in future as listening that voice has scarred me for life! I'm sorry this is not a review for the book.

    I was recommended this. It's not bad but it's not new or refreshing or particularly funny. If anything it's a bit irritating and old hat. If I had read it 30 years ago I would have found it amusing. A poor mans Bridget Jones. I gave it a go till the 6th chapter and now want my money back.
