Or so the legends say. Today, the only remnants of those supposed battles are the Shardblades, the possession of which makes a man nearly invincible on the battlefield. The entire world is at war with itself - and has been for centuries since the Radiants turned against mankind. Kings strive to win more Shardblades, each secretly wishing to be the one who will finally unite all of mankind under a single throne.

On a world scoured down to the rock by terrifying hurricanes that blow through every few day a young spearman forced into the army of a Shardbearer, led to war against an enemy he doesn't understand and doesn't really want to fight.

    My advice is buy this book and the rest of the Stormlight Archive it’s such a good read and very very different from the other fantasy and sci fi saga’s available, trust me you won’t be disappointed.

    This is one of the most exciting second worlds I've read and I can't wait to reach the conclusion..... It's gonna take a while if it's gonna be one book every 3 years but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait ^_^

    Wow I haven't been this enthralled with a book since reading the first Wheel of time book (eye of the world). Loved the characters and the setting as well as the rich history provided in this book, you actual feel like the world is a living world with a history that spans back many years. Your provided with a view point of several characters in the book but there are two stand out characters in the form of Dalinar and Kaladin who you will come to love by the end of this book. If your reading this review I urge you to give this book a read you won't be able to put it down.

    Can't wait for the next book. This is the first Brandon Sanderson book i've read I enjoyed it so much that I went on to get more Sanderson books I have now completed the Mistborn series. A fanatastic author so have high hopes for this latest series.

    A very well written story with diverse and intriguing characters. A huge, rich and varied range of cultures and histories that keep you wondering and hungry for more story and detail! plus a great protagonist you feel you can relate to and get behind and cheer on! Excellent! Must read more! Lol

    As I've said this is a great epic fantasy book with some amazing characters. I couldn't wait for the chapters with Kaladin in them. I just hope he can keep this up for the next 9 books of this saga.
