Chris Hargreaves has been a professional footballer for twenty years. Having started out as a youth team player at Everton he made his debut for Grimsby Town in 1989 and was earmarked as their first million pound sale.

It never happened.

Instead he went on to play for Scarborough, Hull City, West Brom, Hereford United, Plymouth Argyle, Northampton Town, Brentford, Oxford United and Torquay United.

Where's Your Caravan? is the sort of football memoir we don't see enough of these days - an account of life in the lower leagues. It takes us from his wild youth - lots of sex and drugs and drink - through to domesticated family man - school runs and flatpack furniture with plenty of football in between.

    An "alternative" autobiography of a footballer who just missed out on bigger things. Well written and some great stories, this book will appeal to those who are looking for something a little different from the mainstream autobiographies out there.

    This is undoubtedly the best football autobiography, therefore the best autobiography, I have ever read. Imagine being in the pub while a footballer regales you with stories from their past. It is the intimacy and candid nature, written with good humour and giving us an insight into the banter within the pro game coupled with the diary-esque insight into his current dilemmas and lifestyle changes. Brilliant just brilliant, next book please Mr Hargreaves

    I think I must have read 75 per cent of sports autobiographies published in the last 30 years and this one is exceptional. Congratulations Chris - if this is your first book I really look forward to many more. Unputdownable is an expression sometimes used to describe a really good read and this is unputdownable .
